Projects
Sheffield Contemporary Art Forum organises projects, which aim to take Sheffield based artists to international audiences. The first of these projects took place in 2007, and was a book of artists’ work entitled The Sheffield Pavilion.
The Sheffield Pavilion was a project designed to take advantage of the harmonic convergence of super exhibitions which occured when The Venice Biennale, Documenta XII, Skulptur Projekte Münster 07, and Art Basel coincided in June 2007. This nexus of projects falling together (an event which only occurs once every 10 years) offered a unique opportunity to symbiotically present the work of ten Sheffield-based artists and promote the contemporary art activity taking place in Sheffield in an international context.
The second of these projects is due to take place in September 2009, and to be launched at The 11th International Istanbul Biennial. This will be in the form of a showreel of specially commissioned and existing artist films, again around the theme of the Sheffield Pavilion.
