Sheffield Contemporary Art Forum invites you to an evening of
contemporary art, drinks and socialising with friends and colleagues
within a selection of Sheffield’s galleries, to celebrate Art
Sheffield 2010 - Life: A User's Manual.
This gallery crawl is free to attend; there are four venues opening
throughout the evening which are within walking distance to each
other, so do the whole route or just drop in along the way.

7.45 - 8.30pm: Sheffield Institute of Arts Gallery

Gallery
First
stop on the Gallery Crawl is the Site Gallery - sign in here to
claim a free drinks token. Site is host to a number of works for
Art Sheffield 2010 in a range of media, from large wall posters
to bookworks to video. One highlight is the collectable postcards
and a display by Ruth Ewan, whose work has been inspired by a book
called 'The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists', by Robert Tressell,
alluding to Sheffield's renowned radical history.
Featured
artists include Yael Davids, Ruth Ewan, Charlotte Morgan, Wendelien
van Oldenborgh, Hito Steyerl, Emily Wardill and No Fixed Abode.

Artspace
Admin Goes Pommo
Next
stop is Yorkshire Artspace: Persistence Works, where the reception
area houses an enigmatic installation entitled Admin Goes Pommo,
by Netherlands based artist Rachel Koolen. In her work, Koolen brings
into play and confronts administrative society, engaging with bureaucratic
structures and language.

| Bloc
Bloc
hosts an installation of three pieces by Nina Canell in the exhibition
space, and two poster works by Kate Davis and Jimmy Robert on the
billboards outside of the gallery. You can also pick up one of Ruth
Ewan’s six collectable postcards from this venue.

Gallery Venue: The Forum

As
a supporter for Art in Sheffield, The Forum will host the after
party for the Gallery Crawl for those wanting to continue after
the event. There wil be drinks offers for those on the crawl and
a chance to sup a special Art Sheffield 2010 cocktail. The event
also coincides with a free gig at the Forum featuring
The Jessie Road Trip . All are welcome.
