Hand Of presents…

Picture House Revival
A Festival of Film

In association with Warp Films

Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th July

From the moment the projectors flickered into life and The Call of the Road lit up the Abbeydale Picture House’s screen in 1920, Sheffield fell in love with going to the pictures. The Picture House continued to entertain audiences for another 55 years, until the closing credits rolled in July 1975.

Flash-forward 40 years, and there is life in the old building after all, as Hand Of invites everyone to enjoy a weekend celebration of Sheffield’s century-long love affair with the silver screen, in association with Sheffield’s own Warp Films.

We’ve got street food vendors, a bar stocked to the brim with locally brewed ale, popcorn, ice cream, and the return of a Sarsaparilla ‘Temperance Bar’ – all under the dome of an iconic Sheffield cinematic landmark.
