Perfume as PracticeWed 02 Mar 2016 – Fri 18 Mar 2016 Bank Street Arts (open Wed – Sat / 11am – 4pm)
Preview: Friday 4th March, 6-8pm.
The exhibition speculates upon a world where scent is the primary means of communicating, and uses perfume as a platform for making portraiture.
25 perfumes will be on display in a space that emulates a shop. Each perfume is a portrait of another artist, which the artist has created through posing the question ‘Why do you make art?’ and using the responses he has received to make perfumes that attempt to capture the essence of who each artist is.
Each perfume is unique, varied and highly personal, yet will allow a degree of interpretation – just as a painted or sculpted portrait would.
The exhibition will run from 2nd – 18th March.
