Join a member of the Art Sheffield consortium for a tour around selected current exhibitions and events in Sheffield, this month including Millenium Gallery, Site Gallery, Bloc Projects and Picnic Picnic.
The tour will begin at 12pm at Millenium Gallery and will include:
Millenium Gallery: Steel City, City on the Move
Sheffield and its twin city, Pittsburgh, USA, have both been indelibly shaped by the steel-making industry, which once employed huge numbers of local people. In this new exhibition, artist Jo Peel explores the parallels between England’s ‘Steel City’ and its American counterpart through an immersive kaleidoscope of wall murals, paintings, film and documentation.
Site Gallery: Cutting Shapes
Young people from Sheffield have commissioned and worked with artist Harold Offeh to develop Cutting Shapes, an exhibition exploring the crossover between contemporary youth identity and internet cultures.
Bloc Projects: Showdown – Group Show
Featuring Tom Crawford, Maria Georgoula, Aylwin Greenwood-Lambert, Sam Hewland, Jim Howieson, Jake Kent, Bex Massey, Emily Musgrave, Charlotte Salt and Tom Smith.
Selected from the Bloc Projects membership, Showdown brings together artists working in a range of disciplines from across the UK.
