Since 2002 Art Sheffield has been running an Ambassador Scheme, recruiting individuals from organisations based in the city as active supporters of contemporary art in Sheffield. The idea behind the scheme is to promote art to those who work, live and socialise within the city centre, reaching them through existing work and social networks, as well as bringing new audiences to art in Sheffield.
The Ambassador Scheme has been presented several times, each with different strands or themes running through them, and with a variety of different participants. Ambassadors focus on familiarising audiences to the art venues in Sheffield, introducing them to art in the city through tours and gallery crawls, to the festivals, and presenting themed discussions around the shows.
Past participants of the Ambassador Scheme include individual representatives from the Forum cafe bar, HSBC, HLW Commercial Lawyers, Sheffield College, Sheffield Hallam University, the University of Sheffield, and Waterstones.
There will be opportunities to participate in future Ambassador Schemes during the next Art Sheffield Festival. More information coming soon.
