A Time to Break Silence – Edgar Arceneaux & Underground Resistance
Fri 04 October
18:00 – 19:30
Edgar Arceneaux presents a major new project commissioned for Art Sheffield 2013, with a screening of his film A Time to Break Silence accompanied by a discussion with the artist.
Drawing on seemingly disparate elements A Time to Break Silence views America’s current moment by reflecting on the triumphs, fears and tragedies of the late 1960s. The film tells the story of the evolution of technology and the use of the bible as weapon of both light and dark, connecting spirituality, technology, military and social change.
Join the artist for a discussion about this epic project, developed in collaboration with Detroit-based techno-pioneers Underground Resistance and drawing on the seminal speech of Dr Martin Luther King Jr from which it takes its name.
The event is free, but booking is recommended.
